Jack Sock is the biggest surprise at the 2017 ATP Finals in London. The young American unexpectedly qualified and is now into the semifinals.

Jack Sock has found himself in the semifinals at The O2 Arena this week.

The young American tennis star unexpectedly qualified for the end of year ATP Finals in London after winning the 2017 Paris Masters just one week prior. The rise in rankings thrust him into his first ever end of year tournament.

Sock defeats German tennis star Alexander Zverev in the final meeting of round robin action. Zverev, who is the current world No. 3, was in need of a win in order to advance. While Sock knocks him out of contention, Zverev is undoubtedly pleased with his year on the ATP World Tour.

Jack Sock defeats Alexander Zverev in three sets, winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

The American is in action against Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov next at the ATP Finals. Dimitrov takes on Pablo Carreno Busta on Friday at the tournament but is already locked into the semifinals.

Carreno Busta replaces year-end world No. 1 Rafael Nadal after his withdrawal from the tournament. After dropping his opening match to David Goffin, Nadal ends his year due to his ongoing knee injury. He had withdraw from action in Paris leading up to the quarterfinals, leaving many speculating as to whether he would be healthy enough to compete in London. His absence makes players such as Jack Sock even more interesting moving forward.

Jack Sock becomes the first American to reach the final weekend at the ATP Finals since Andy Roddick in 2007. The 25-year-old saw a fantastic start to his 2017 ATP World Tour before fading in the middle months. With the idea of qualifying for play in London far from his mind, Sock rediscovered his rhythm and capitulated himself toward his first ever Masters 1000 title. It would be enough for a shot at glory in London.

Roger Federer remains the heavy favorite at the 2017 ATP Finals. The Swiss great is into the semifinals and is in search of his seventh career title at the event. The world No. 2 is undefeated so far, sweeping his matches during group stage play. Look for him to be the player to beat moving forward. The younger crowd, featuring the likes of Jack Sock, Grigor Dimitrov, and others, will need to complete the upset if they hope to taste glory in London.
