Grigor Dimitrov closes out his run in London with a title. The Bulgarian is your 2017 ATP Finals champion as he defeats David Goffin.

Defeating David Goffin in a tough three set match, the Bulgarian closes out what has been his most accomplished year yet. Dimitrov defeats Goffin in the finals, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Making his debut at the ATP Finals in London this year, Dimitrov could not be stopped all week. His run at The O2 Arena featured wins over Goffin, Dominic Thiem, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Jack Sock.

The 26-year-old Bulgarian tennis star had three ATP singles titles coming into play in London. He ends his year with the biggest tournament win of his career. Dimitrov’s four titles on the year have made him one of the players to beat in men’s singles tennis.
Many saw year-end world No. 1 Rafael Nadal as the favorite to win in London. Nadal, however, was forced to withdraw after an opening match loss due to a lingering knee injury. Roger Federer, who is a six-time winner at the ATP Finals, became the favorite before falling to Goffin in the semifinals. The semifinals victory for Goffin was the first of his career against Federer.

Look for Grigor Dimitrov to carry his momentum right into the 2018 ATP World Tour. His resurgence this year has earned him a Masters 1000 title to go along with his ATP Finals win in London. The Bulgarian was all smiles after his win over Goffin. He is just one of a handful of players to win the end of year tournament during his debut appearance.
With the 2018 ATP World Tour right around the corner, several veteran and young rising stars are making headlines. Men’s singles tennis is eager to have players such as Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray back and in competitive shape. They will, however, need to take on the young up and comers on tour.
