Alexander Zverev: career year earns him No. 4 ranking

Alexander Zverev wraps up a career year on the ATP World Tour. At just 20-years-old, the German tennis star is the world No. 4 in men’s singles.
Alexander Zverev concludes his best year so far in his young career.
The young German tennis star, however, is just 20-years-old. In 2017, Zverev earned five of his six total ATP singles titles, including two Masters 1000 wins. He is playing amongst the best in all of men’s singles tennis right now.

Finishing the year just behind Grigor Dimitrov in the rankings, Zverev will be a player to beat on the 2018 ATP World Tour. Dimitrov finishes roughly 500 points ahead of the German tennis player.
Alexander Zverev wins five titles in 2017, including his first two Masters 1000 events.
The world No. 4’s year was good enough to earn him a bid to the ATP Finals in London. He also qualified in the top position for the Next Generation ATP Finals in Milan, which he skipped in order to compete at The O2 Arena in London.
Opening play in London, Zverev defeated Marin Cilic in three sets. He would go on to face Roger Federer, who he had seen some success against throughout 2017. Federer, however, defeated the younger German in a three set back and forth epic. American Jack Sock would eventually knock Zverev out of play in London, creating a tough ending to a stellar year for the German.

All in all, Alexander Zverev has beyond proven himself on the 2017 ATP World Tour. His towering presence and poise, combined with his phenomenal play, cannot be denied by even the best in the sport. Throughout both 2016 and 2017, Zverev has even earned a 2-3 record against Swiss superstar Federer. The world No. 4 will look to remain atop the rankings in early 2017 and should be an interesting underdog pick to win a Grand Slam in the next year. While Federer and Rafael Nadal dominated major tournaments in 2017, a rising generation of players such as Sascha have made themselves known. Look for him to come out strong in the early months of the 2018 ATP World Tour.
