Rafael Nadal has No. 1 ranking, Roger Federer has scoreboard in 2017

Rafael Nadal ends 2017 as the year-end world No. 1. The Spanish superstar, however, went 0-4 against Swiss great Roger Federer this year.
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer makeup one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. The two tennis greats are friends on and off the court, but have gone to battle many times.
While Nadal has a career record of 23-15 against Federer, the Swiss great went undefeated against the current world No. 1 on the 2017 ATP World Tour.

With a 4-0 record against Nadal in 2017, Federer has begun a new era in their rivalry. Both players alternated Grand Slam singles titles this year on the ATP World Tour. They will head into 2018 as the players to beat.
Federer kicked off 2017 with an Australian Open finals win over Nadal.
There is no doubt that the two top players in men’s singles tennis are great for the sport. Their competing with both one another and the younger rising stars will make way for a phenomenal 2018 ATP World Tour.
Along with his Australian Open win over Nadal, Federer also defeated the world No. 1 in three Masters 1000 events this year. Federer notched wins over Nadal in Shanghai, Indian Wells, and Miami. Both Shanghai and Miami were also finals matches between the two tennis stars. On top of his 4-0 record over the No. 1 in 2017, Federer continues his winning streak against Nadal dating all the way back to the 2014 Australian Open semifinals.

Time will tell as to whether these two veterans can continue their fantastic play on tour. Young stars such as ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev are making names for themselves on tour. Zverev has already seen some success over the 36-year-old Swiss star. The return of the like of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic among others will make the 2018 ATP World Tour even more interesting.
