Venus Williams is not ready for retirement. The tennis star is even considering competing in the 2020 Olympics.

At 37-years-old, many did not expect the resurgence that Williams saw on the 2017 WTA Tour. Starting at the Australian Open, the current world No. 5 progressed throughout the year to reenter the WTA’s top five.

Williams closes her 2017 with a runner-up finish at the WTA Finals in Singapore. Danish superstar Caroline Wozniacki defeated her in the finals, winning in straight sets. Wozniacki took the match 6-4, 6-4. Williams, however, had an impressive run at the end of year tournament.

Venus Williams posted a 38-14 singles match record on the 2017 WTA Tour.

Kicking off her strong year at the Australian Open, Williams reached the finals. She would fall to her sister Serena. The younger Serena took their meeting 6–4, 6–4.

Despite the second place finish at Melbourne Park, the major tournament was the start of a fantastic year for Williams. A strong run at Wimbledon and then finishing the year in fine form at the WTA Finals would mark highlights of her 2017. While she is a veteran on the tour, the world No. 5 does not appear to be letting up. Her drive off the court has also included running a fashion company and working toward a degree in design. The American tennis star is keeping up the pace both on and off the court.
