Nick Kyrgios is the current world No. 21 in men’s singles tennis. The 22-year-old has tons of potential if he decides to make a run in 2018.

Nick Kyrgios remains among the top players in men’s singles tennis.

At just 22-years-old, the young Australian tennis player has plenty of time to rise in the rankings. His recent seasons on tour, however, have included both bursts of phenomenal play mixed with lackluster performances.

Kyrgios is always an interesting player to watch in any tournament. Whether you will get the stylized play of a rising star or the disinterested version of himself is always up in the air. On the 2017 ATP World Tour, Kyrgios posted a singles match record of 31-17.

His 2017 tour even featured his first ever Masters 1000 final.

The young Australian has mentioned an interest in basketball along with tennis. He has even gone as far as to say that he is not necessarily in love with tennis. His antics both on the court and in front of the media never seem to disappoint.

Kyrgios has three ATP singles titles to his name. All three of those tournament wins came on the 2016 ATP World Tour. Despite missing out on wins in 2017, his season did feature wins over several top players in men’s singles. As the Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the calendar year, the young tennis player is a local favorite leading into play at Melbourne Park. His best finish at the major tournament so far came in 2015 when he reached the quarterfinals.

Nick Kyrgios will need to focus and prepare himself during the offseason if he hopes to reach career heights in the singles rankings yet again. His career best of world No. 13 came during his fantastic run of play during the 2016 ATP World Tour. While he has plenty of time to collect himself and become a headlining name on tour, several other young stars are taking over the sport. Many are having to also compete with the likes of veteran greats Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Both players split Grand Slams in 2017. If someone like Kyrgios hopes to hoist the trophy at a major tournament, he will need to be on top of his game. Stay tuned to see how Kyrgios and other young stars in men’s singles fare on the 2018 ATP World Tour.
