Brisbane International: Grigor Dimitrov enters as defending champion

Brisbane International action kicks off in just over a week. The 2018 ATP World Tour is about to start as some of the best in men’s singles take the court.
Brisbane International action is right around the corner.
The best in men’s and women’s tennis will compete at the 2018 iteration of the tournament. On the men’s singles side, Grigor Dimitrov is featured as the defending champion. In 2017, he defeated Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori in the finals, winning 6–2, 2–6, 6–3.

Dimitrov is red hot as he kicks off his 2018 ATP World Tour. The Bulgarian tennis star is riding high after winning the ATP Finals in London. Now the world No. 3 in men’s singles tennis, Dimitrov will continue to challenge the best in the sport this coming year.
Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are set to headline the Brisbane field.
The year-end world No. 1 and Murray are expected to be among the top players in the men’s singles field. Murray is returning from an injury plagued 2017 ATP World Tour. Nadal is coming off yet another career year.
Nadal tops the rankings in men’s singles tennis with Swiss great Roger Federer right behind him. The two swapped Grand Slam titles in 2017 and both are aiming for strong runs at the Australian Open. Brisbane International defending champion Dimitrov remains in search of his first ever Grand Slam singles title. His strong tour this past year sets him up nicely to make several major tournament runs this coming year.

Nishikori, Nick Kyrgios, and Milos Raonic are among the other featured players at this year’s Brisbane International. Many will be watching Murray, however, as he attempts to bounce back after missing the second half of the 2017 ATP World Tour. Leading into the Australian Open, Murray will need to find his rhythm. He is a five-time finalist at the major tournament. As for Dimitrov, stay tuned to see if he can carry his momentum right into play on the 2018 ATP World Tour.
