Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil set for Hopman Cup

Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil kick off their Hopman Cup run this weekend. As team Canada, they will face the home Australians first.

Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil face team Australia on Sunday at the 2018 Hopman cup in Perth, Australia. As team Canada, they start off by taking on the home team favorite in Perth. Team Australia features Thanasi Kokkinakis and Daria Gavrilova.

Both team Canada and Australia each feature young stars in men’s and women’s tennis.

Bouchard has seen some success at the Hopman Cup in the past. In 2015, she and Pospisil did not make it out of the round robin, but the Canadian tennis star did earn a victory over Serena Williams.

Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil can play the upset card at this year’s Hopman Cup.

Looking to the 2018 WTA Tour, Bouchard is in need of a resurgence. The young Canadian saw flashes of success in 2017 but failed to truly find her rhythm last season. Now, she can gain some much need momentum at the ITF event before action in Australia heats up.

With action at the Australian Open under one month away, Bouchard must prove that she is ready to make a deep run at the major tournament. She is a former semifinalist at Melbourne Park. Also in action at the Hopman Cup are several other players in search of momentum heading into the upcoming Grand Slam.

Swiss great Roger Federer is a featured player who looks to carry his fantastic success on the 2017 ATP World Tour right into the new year. German tennis star Angelique Kerber is also featured on team Germany this week and is a former champion at Melbourne Park. A strong run at the Hopman Cup could set up Kerber on the right foot going into the next few weeks.
