Angelique Kerber puts on a fine performance against Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard at this year’s Hopman Cup. Team Germany completes the 3-0 victory over the Canadians.

The former world No. 1 and German tennis star takes down Bouchard in straight sets. While the young Canadian has seen WTA singles success against the German in the past, things went differently this week in Perth, Australia.

Kerber defeats Bouchard in straight sets. The German takes their meeting with ease, winning 6-1 6-3. Also winning his singles match for Germany was Alexander Zverev. He bounces back after a tough loss to Belgium’s rising tennis star David Goffin.

Angelique Kerber remains undefeated this week at the Hopman Cup.

Earlier in the week, the former world No. 1 took down Elise Mertens in his singles match. Now, team Germany takes on the home favorite of Australia on Friday.

There is no doubt that Kerber is looking to breakout on the 2018 WTA Tour. A former champion at the Australian Open, she is using her time wisely this week. The Hopman Cup, though an ITF mixed gender event, is a perfect warmup tournament for several of the sport’s top players. While everyone seems to enjoy their time in Perth, players do not take the matches lightly. Also winning so far this week is Swiss star Roger Federer and his partner Belinda Bencic.
