Dominic Thiem moves into the quarterfinals at the Qatar Open in Doha.
The Austrian tennis star is the last remaining seeded player this week at the ATP World Tour event. Thiem is the No. 1 seed in Doha, although several strong men’s singles players are still in action. Among those remaining are rising star Andrey Rublev and veteran great Gael Monfils.

Rublev is fresh off of a win over the seventh seed. He defeats Fernando Verdasco in order to reach the quarterfinals in Doha. The young Russian takes their meeting in three sets, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Dominic Thiem is looking for momentum heading into the 2018 Australian Open.
The young Austrian tennis star has seen success in recent years on the ATP World Tour. Remaining within the top 10 rankings for a while now, he is eyeing a Grand Slam win this year. In 2017, he reached the fourth round of play at Melbourne Park. Look for Thiem to close out strong in Doha.
The top seeded Thiem is yet to drop a set at the Qatar Open. Up next for the Austrian is Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas. He is the current Greek No. 1 and entered Doha as the third seeded qualifier. So far, Tsitsipas has won four matches in order to reach the quarterfinals. In the round of 16, he took down French tennis star Richard Gasquet. The French tennis veteran was the fifth seed this week at the Qatar Open.

Look for Dominic Thiem to be the favorite in the quarterfinals. All of the action goes down tomorrow in Doha to determine who will advance. With the Australian Open less than two weeks away, Thiem and others are looking for momentum heading into the first Grand Slam of the calendar year. The remaining field of players in Doha is a strong mix of young and veteran talent. Thiem will need to keep up his strong play if he hopes to take home his first title of the 2018 ATP World Tour.
