Kyle Edmund has reached the quarterfinals at the 2018 Brisbane International. The British No. 2 faces Grigor Dimitrov for just the second time in his career.

Kyle Edmund survives two three-set epic matches in order to reach the quarterfinals action at the 2018 Brisbane International. The British No. 2 is looking to kick off his ATP World Tour on a high note.

As the current world No. 50 in men’s singles tennis, Edmund has the chance to rise even higher in the rankings this week if he continues on. The young British tennis star has reached as high as the No. 40 position on tour. Now, he faces the world No. 3 in Brisbane.

Edmund meets world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov next at the ATP event. The two square off in the quarterfinals tomorrow in Brisbane. Dimitrov is fresh off of a win over local favorite John Millman. While the world No. 3 struggled in his opening set, he rallied to earn a second set tiebreak and cruise to victory in the third.

Dimitrov defeats Millman in three sets, winning 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3.

Edmund has faced Dimitrov just once in their young careers. The two squared off last year in Washington where the world No. 3 earned a hard fought three-set victory over the British No. 2.

The unseeded Edmund is just 22-years-old. Dimitrov, who is the current ATP Finals champion, is just 26-years-old. Both represent a rising generation of men’s singles tennis stars making waves on tour. A win over Dimitrov could do wonders to boost Edmund’s early 2018 tour confidence. With the Australian Open less than two weeks away, knocking out the world No. 3 in Brisbane would be exactly what Edmund wants right now.

Look for Kyle Edmund to put up a fight against Grigor Dimitrov tomorrow in Brisbane. Also into the quarterfinals at the ATP tournament is Australian favorite Nick Kyrgios. He takes on Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov in his quarterfinals match later today. Kyrgios is always an interesting pick in any tournament he plays in. Somewhat unpredictable, the Australian tennis star has the talent necessary to win anytime he steps onto the court. He will have the backing of the home crowd.
