Julia Goerges extends her winning streak from 2017 right into the start of the 2018 WTA Tour. The second seed in Auckland completes a fantastic week of tennis.
The German tennis star is the current world No. 14 in women’s singles tennis thanks to two title wins at the end of last year. She continues that winning streak in Auckland, defeating top seeded Caroline Wozniacki to earn the title.

Goerges is in fine form right now. Taking the finals meeting in straight sets, she defeats Wozniacki 6-4, 7-6 (4). The German appears to be unstoppable as of late. Her win in Auckland makes it 14 consecutive match wins.

After winning the title in Auckland, the German tennis star has decided to withdraw from play in Sydney. She cites a knee injury and is most likely looking to rest up and prepare for the upcoming Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
The runner-up finish for Wozniacki will launch her into the world No. 2 ranking this coming week. The Danish tennis star is a former world No. 1 on the WTA Tour and could regain the top ranking after play at the Australian Open. With the second place finish, she is off to a great start in 2018. Wozniacki is the current WTA Finals champion, winning the end of year tournament by defeating American tennis star Venus Williams in the finals.
