Eugenie Bouchard: right back to training after AusOpen

Eugenie Bouchard is back to training after her second round Australian Open loss. The Canadian was knocked out of the Grand Slam by Simona Halep.
Eugenie Bouchard looks to bounce back after her second round Australian Open exit. The Canadian tennis star drew the unfortunate matchup with top seeded Simona Halep in just her second match at the Grand Slam in Melbourne, Australia.
Halep took the meeting against Bouchard in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2. Now, Bouchard is back to training as she gears up for her next moves on the 2018 WTA Tour.
After a strong opening match at Melbourne Park, Bouchard fans believed that the Genie of old may be back in 2018. Reaching career heights in 2014, Bouchard went as high as the world No. 5 ranking in women’s singles tennis.

Her previous two years on tour have seen both ups and downs. Last year, Genie’s best run was most likely considered to be at the Madrid Open. Reaching the quarterfinals in Madrid, she defeated the likes of Maria Sharapova and Angelique Kerber. Since last season, Bouchard has made changes to her coaching team and training regime. And, at just 23-years-old, the young Canadian still has plenty of time left to reach career heights yet again.

Looking at the upcoming 2018 WTA Tour, Eugenie Bouchard is just one of many young stars in women’s singles tennis. Players such as Halep even could still be considered up and comers. Jelena Ostapenko, Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza, Sloane Stephens, and Caroline Wozniacki are all among the very best in women’s singles tennis right now. The sport is seeing a surge of young new players making headlines in the past year.

Other veterans such as Kerber must prove that they are able to contend with the new stars in the sport. Kerber is currently into the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.
