Hyeon Chung is on top of the world right now. The young South Korean tennis star completes the upset over Novak Djokovic.

Hyeon Chung is into the quarterfinals at the Australian Open for the first time in his young career. He completes the surprising upset over six-time champion Novak Djokovic.

It appears as though Djokovic’s elbow injury has caught up to him. While he can be happy with his run at Melbourne Park this month, the Serbian still has a little ways to go before he is back in top competitive shape.

Chung defeats Djokovic in a hard-fought three set match. He takes the meeting over the former champion 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 7-6 (7-3). Up next for the South Korean is American Tennys Sandgren. The American is coming off of his own upset victory over fifth seeded Dominic Thiem.

Several top contenders are now out of the action in men’s singles.

The world No. 1 and 2, however, remain alive at the 2018 Australian Open. Both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have easily reached the quarterfinals at the major tournament. Federer looks to defend his title this year at Melbourne Park.

While Chung will be quite the underdog moving forward, his matchup against Sandgren is one that he can win. Both players are into the quarterfinals at the Grand Slam event for just the first time in their careers. A semifinals appearance is right around the corner for one of the young up and comers.

Elsewhere, sixth seeded Marin Cilic is also into the quarterfinals. His opponent, however, is top seeded Nadal and should provide the Spanish superstar with his toughest matchup yet at Melbourne Park.
