Roger Federer strikes again at the 2018 Australian Open. The defending champion is cruising right now as he advances to the semifinals at the Grand Slam event.
Defeating Czech veteran Tomas Berdych, Federer continues on and remains the heavy favorite. With top seed and world No. 1 Rafael Nadal out of the mix, the path is cleared for the second seeded Federer. He faces Hyeon Chung of South Korea next at Melbourne Park.
Federer defeats Berdych in straight sets. After a hard fought first set tiebreak, the second seed found his rhythm and took over the quarterfinals meeting. Federer takes the match, winning 7-6 (1), 6-3, 6-4. He remains perfect at Melbourne Park this month, still yet to drop a single set.
There is no doubt that Roger Federer is the favorite to take the title.
Looking at the final four, only Marin Cilic also has a Grand Slam title of any kind. He takes on British No. 2 Kyle Edmund who remains in search of his first ever ATP singles title. Cilic is a former US Open champion. Federer’s next opponent, Chung, has just one ATP singles title to his name. The experience undoubtedly favors the Swiss tennis star.
