Novak Djokovic has been relatively silent since his exit from the 2018 Australian Open. No news is good news right now with the former world No. 1.

Novak Djokovic is not in the Australian Open finals this year. While he and Roger Federer have largely dominated the Grand Slam in the last decade, it is only Federer who remains in action going into the final weekend at Melbourne Park.

The Serbian superstar saw a straight set loss to South Korean Hyeon Chung in the fourth round of play. It was clear that his ongoing elbow injury was getting the best of him. Now, fans and players alike are awaiting any news on Djokovic’s injury. Currently, there is none.

Nole is a fan favorite on tour and, at 30-years-old, he should have plenty of tennis ahead of him. Looking at the 36-year-old Federer, anything is possible. But the biggest distinction between Federer and several other top players in men’s singles tennis is that he remains relatively healthy right now. The Swiss great has not seen any significant time away due to injury as of late.

Six-time Australian Open champion Djokovic, however, could be joining the ranks of Andy Murray, Kei Nishikori, Stan Wawrinka, and potentially Rafael Nadal when it comes to his health. For the world No. 1 Nadal, he appears to have a less severe injury than initially expected. Team Nadal is hoping that he is back on the ATP World Tour within one month. Obviously, anything can happen regarding rehab and when it comes to scheduling the world No. 1’s next tournaments.

Novak Djokovic last Grand Slam singles title came in 2016.

The ATP World Tour is better off when Djokovic is healthy. He has become one of the greatest to ever play the sport. Right alongside Federer and Nadal, the Serbian superstar is on the verge of all-time glory. It all comes down to whether or not Nole can be healthy enough to notch a few more Grand Slam titles. As Federer has a shot at his 20th this coming weekend, everyone else is in the rearview mirror. Even Nadal is struggling to put together several months of consecutive healthy play in the past year. Now, the Spanish superstar did earn two major tournament wins last year, but his end to 2017 proved costly for the start of 2018.
