Marin Cilic is the new world No. 3 in men’s singles tennis thanks to his Australian Open run. Here’s a look at some moments from his time at Melbourne Park.

Marin Cilic met Roger Federer during the ATP Finals in London at the end of 2017. It is fitting that the two would once again see each other on a big stage.

Finishing second place at the 2018 Australian Open, Cilic is now the world No. 3 in men’s singles tennis. He is seeing all-time highs for his career right now and the Croatian tennis star ought to continue to impress throughout the rest of the year.

The two tennis greats made it a finals for the ages. Despite finishing runner-up to the Swiss great, Cilic remained positive after the championship match. He was all smiles and as both he and Federer celebrated a fantastic month of tennis at Melbourne Park.

Marin Cilic is now the world No. 3 on the ATP World Tour.

Cilic is poised to be one of the top players on the 2018 ATP World Tour. His previous year has set him up perfectly to have an impact very early in the year. Now, the Australian Open run has expedited his rise in the rankings even sooner than expected. He is now the No. 3 player behind just Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The Spanish superstar is hanging onto his world No. 1 ranking by less than 200 points following play at Melbourne Park. As Federer quickly approaches the top ranking yet again, Cilic looks to distance himself from several young rising stars right behind him. Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem among others remain in striking distance. Cilic’s runner-up finish at Melbourne Park jumped him three places ahead of the set of them.
