Bouchard’s early 2018 WTA Tour has seen some ups and downs. A strong run at the Taiwan Open would do wonders for her in the coming weeks. After a solid opening round performance at the 2018 Australian Open, Bouchard found herself face to face with top seeded Simona Halep.

Halep defeated Bouchard in straight sets at Melbourne Park, winning 6-2, 6-2. The top seed would go on to face Caroline Wozniacki in the finals, losing to the new world No. 1. Halep remains in search of her first career Grand Slam singles title.

Eugenie Bouchard is the current world No. 114 in women’s singles tennis.

The biggest surprise so far in Taiwan is third seeded Samantha Stosur seeing an upset in her opening round match. Others such as Bouchard could take advantage of the action this week at the Taiwan Open. In the offseason, Genie made changes to her coaching team and training regimen. Now, she is looking for the hard work to pay off on the 2018 WTA Tour.
