Caroline Wozniacki continues winning at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. The 2018 Australian Open champion eases through her opening round match.

Winning in straight sets, Caroline Wozniacki is off to an impressive start at the 2018 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. She defeats 16-year-old Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-1. The Australian Open champion is this week’s top seed in Saint Petersburg.

Up next for Wozniacki is eighth seeded Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

This week’s second seed is also into the quarterfinals. Jelena Ostapenko hits the courts tomorrow for a shot at the semifinals. The French Open champion takes on tennis star Petra Kvitova in St. Petersburg. Ostapenko is the 2015 champion at the WTA Tour event.

Caroline Wozniacki is fresh off of her Australian Open title.

There’s no letting up for Wozniacki in the week since her title at Melbourne Park. She cruises through her opening round match at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. Last week at Melbourne Park, she also reached the world No. 1 ranking with her win. Defeating Romanian tennis star Simona Halep in the Australian Open finals, Wozniacki is once again the top player in women’s singles tennis.

A win at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy will help solidify Caroline Wozniacki’s ranking as the world No. 1 in women’s singles tennis.

The road to a title in St. Petersburg does not get any easier moving forward. The quarterfinals features five remaining seeded players, including defending champion Kristina Mladenovic. She takes on Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková tomorrow for a shot a the semifinals. Look for Mladenovic, Ostapenko, and Wozniacki to be the favorites in their next matches. The new world No. 1, however, faces a challenge in Kasatkina.

Quarterfinals action goes down tomorrow in Saint Petersburg.
