Petra Kvitova is recreating herself on the 2018 WTA Tour. The two-time Wimbledon champion wins her 21st WTA singles title.

Petra Kvitova wins the 2018 2018 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. The Czech tennis star is looking to rejuvenate her career this coming year. A win in Saint Petersburg puts Kvitova in a good position moving forward on the WTA Tour.

After recovering from a home invasion attack before the start of the 2017 WTA Tour, Kvitova is still easing back into competitive action. She saw an early exit at the Australian Open last month but bounces back strong with a title run in Saint Petersburg.

The title this week comes against fourth seeded Kristina Mladenovic. The French tennis star is among the best in the sport right now. She was also the defending champion at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. Kvitova wins the finals meeting with Mladenovic in straight sets. Taking the match 6-1 6-2, the Czech tennis star takes the championship meeting in just 65 minutes.

Petra Kvitova is now a 21-time WTA title winner.

Coming into the week as the world No. 21 in women’s singles tennis, Kvitova is primed to rise in the rankings after play in Saint Petersburg. The title comes after she notched a win in Birmingham last year. Fans and players alike have been fully supportive of her return to the courts. After suffering a near-death attack in her home, the two-time Wimbledon champion needed significant time to rehab her hand injury. While fending off a knife-wielding attacker, Kvitova suffered numerous lacerations to her lefthand. The road to recovery was not an easy one, but she is back and proving to be right where she left off on the WTA Tour.

When top seeded Caroline Wozniacki fell in her second match at Saint Petersburg, Kvitova became an interesting pick moving forward. She has the experience and talent necessary to take on any opponent she faces. Continuing on her title run, Kvitova never let up at the 2018 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy.
