Andy Murray picks Serena Williams for Wimbledon 2018

Andy Murray posted a video via one of his sponsors where he made several sports picks for the upcoming year. He sees Serena Williams winning Wimbledon.
Former world No. 1 Andy Murray is rehabbing after having undergone hip surgery. He is preparing for a comeback sometime leading up to play at Wimbledon 2018.
Taking some time to speak to the fans, Murray made several sports picks for the upcoming year. When asked about Wimbledon 2018, he picked Serena Williams to win the women’s singles side. Fans are currently awaiting Williams’ comeback to the WTA Tour.

Williams stepped away after the birth of her daughter but is making her return to the courts. She is in action during Fed Cup play this coming week but will only play doubles with Lauren Davis. Williams also played an exhibition match at the start of the year. She is easing back into competitive WTA Tour action so expect her to pick upcoming tournaments sparingly until she is ready to go.
As for Andy Murray, he his hopeful that he will be a contender at Wimbledon this year.
The former world No. 1 is a two-time winner at the Grand Slam event and the sport would love to have him back and healthy for action this year. Murray won the men’s singles title in both 2013 and 2016. Last year, Swiss great Roger Federer took the trophy, defeating Marin Cilic in the finals. The two met again last month in the Australian Open finals. Federer earned his 20th career Grand Slam. He and Rafael Nadal must be considered heavy favorites at Wimbledon this year. Cilic could also be a strong contender, along with several young stars in men’s singles.

On the women’s singles side, Williams will need to contend with the likes of Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep. Others such as Angelique Kerber appear in fantastic form so far in 2018. Wozniacki is red hot right now, winning both the 2017 WTA Finals in Singapore and then the Australian Open last month. The win at Melbourne Park was her first Grand Slam title.

Andy Murray has his work cut out for him but a healthy Murray cannot be discounted. Fans and players are wishing him the best in his recovery and rehab.
