Roger Federer has done it again. The 36-year-old Swiss great is set to retake the world No. 1 ranking from Rafael Nadal after Rotterdam.

Yes, Roger Federer will be the world No. 1 in men’s singles tennis again.

At the Rotterdam Open, he reaches the semifinals to face Andreas Seppi of Italy. His run solidifies his overtaking Rafael Nadal for the sport’s top ranking. Defeating Dutchman Robin Haase in the quarterfinals, Federer continues to make history.

Similar to last year, the 2018 ATP World Tour has been all Federer so far. Winning the Hopman Cup set him up to explode in his early ATP events. At the Australian Open, the Swiss great won his 20th career Grand Slam, defeating Marin Cilic in the finals. His play at Melbourne Park was flawless until the championship match. It was his sixth win at the Australian Open.

Roger Federer is a 20-time Grand Slam winner.

Elsewhere at the Rotterdam Open, Grigor Dimitrov is into the finals. He moves past Belgian David Goffin after he retired in their semifinals meeting. Action in Rotterdam could see both the top and second seed going at it in the finals. Federer has already made history this week but, if he can get past Seppi in the semis, he will have a shot at his second title this year.

Federer has dropped just one set so far this week. He appears in fantastic form so far on the year. With Nadal out rehabbing a grade one leg injury, the Swiss great is taking over the tour.

At 36-years-old, Roger Federer is the oldest player to be No. 1.
