French tennis veteran Gael Monfils is off to a strong start so far in 2018. Taking a title home at the Qatar Open, he burst back onto the scene in men’s singles tennis. Defeating Andrey Rublev in straight sets, Monfils won the title in Qatar, going 6–2, 6–3.
The win at Qatar breaks his one year drought of being without an ATP singles title. Monfils last tasted glory at the Washington Citi Open in 2016. Now, he has a solid seven singles titles to his resume. 2018 could easily bring a few more his way.

The Serbian and former Melbourne Park six-time champion outlasted Monfils in a heat-fueled epic. Monfils would bounce back well in the next few weeks though.
