Frances Tiafoe wins first career ATP singles title at Delray Beach

Frances Tiafoe is now an ATP singles title holder. The young American tastes glory for the first time at the 2018 Delray Beach Open.

Frances Tiafoe is just 20-years-old and making headlines on the ATP World Tour. The young American tennis player is reaching career heights after his first ever ATP singles title at the Delray Beach Open. He defeats Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk in the finals at the event.

The current world No. 61 in men’s singles tennis, Tiafoe is sure to continue jumping in the rankings in the coming weeks. His strong performance at the 2018 Delray Beach Open is a huge boost for his momentum moving forward. Look for the young American to be an interesting player to watch throughout the rest of the year.

Winning in straight sets during his championship match, Tiafoe takes down Gojowczyk with ease. He wins 6-1, 6-4. While Gojowczyk put up more of a fight in the second set, the American managed to maintain his momentum and close out the match. His title in Delray comes after an already impressive start to his 2018 tour.

Frances Tiafoe is one of several rising American tennis stars.

Jack Sock may get the majority of the attention when it comes to American men’s tennis as of late, but Tiafoe is poised to be a top contender throughout the next decade. His ATP title win makes him the youngest American to win a title since Andy Roddick did it almost twenty years ago. The win also moves him up 30 places in the men’s singles rankings and puts him one step closer to his career all-time high. There is no doubt that Tiafoe could continue to rise in the ATP World Tour rankings in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on him throughout all of 2018.
