Juan Martin del Potro wins the 2018 Mexican Open men’s singles title. He has now won an ATP singles title in three consecutive years on the ATP World Tour. As the current world No. 8 in men’s singles tennis, Del Potro is on the verge of touching career heights in the coming months.
At 29-years-old, Del Potro brings with him enormous amounts of experience on tour. In the finals at the Mexican Open, he came face to face with another strong veteran player in Kevin Anderson.
The South African tennis star has seen a fantastic start to his 2018 ATP World Tour. Anderson won the New York Open title just weeks ago and is the current world No. 9 in men’s singles tennis. Both he and Del Potro are making headlines in the early months of the tour this year.

Winning 6-4, 6-4, the Argentinian comes out on top in Acapulco, Mexico. Del Potro saw flashes of brilliant success in 2017 and he appears to be carrying last year’s momentum right into the early months of the 2018 ATP World Tour. His win over Anderson solidifies him as one of the top contenders on the tour right now. In the semifinals at the Mexican Open, Del Potro defeated rising star Alexander Zverev with ease. Defeating the German tennis player 6-4, 6-2, the Argentinian cruised into the finals. His semifinals win over Zverev also came after a huge win over Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem. The young Austrian came into Acapulco as the third seed and Zverev was the second seed.
