Alexander Zverev Moves In Rankings To Revisit Career High

Reaching his career high ranking yet again, Alexander Zverev is back into the ATP top three. He is the new world No. 3 in men’s singles.

At the top of the singles rankings is Rafael Nadal. After Roger Federer stepped away for the clay court season, the ATP World Tour appeared to be his for the taking. Now though, Alexander Zverev is climbing in the rankings yet again. He reaches the world No. 3 ranking to match his career best so far in his young career.

The 21-year-old German tennis star has made headlines in the past twelve months and is now considered one of the rising stars in the sport. His move back into the world No. 3 position displaces Croatian great Marin Cilic. The Croatian, who finished runner-up to Federer at the Australian Open, is now the world No. 4 on the ATP World Tour.

It’s Zverev who is knocking on the doors of the top two in the sport. As it stands, the top ranking is Nadal’s to lose for now. So long as Federer stays away from competitive ATP singles action, Nadal ought to widen the gap between himself and others. Zverev is currently almost 4,000 points behind the world No. 1 in the men’s singles rankings.

A semifinals run at the 2018 Monte-Carlo Masters moves Alexander Zverev back into the world No. 3 rankings on the ATP World Tour.

Alexander Zverev previously reached the third round of action at Roland Garros. While he is yet to win a Grand Slam singles title, the German is considered an outside contender for a major tournament win this year. Nadal is the heavy favorite at the French Open of course, but rising stars like Zverev can play the underdog role. Other top seeds such as Novak Djokovic cannot be discounted. If the young German hopes to reach even higher in the singles rankings, he must continue his newfound success.
