Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic faces some uncertainty moving forward on the ATP World Tour. Still, Nole remains in contention.

Novak Djokovic continues to fight through his return to the 2018 ATP World Tour. A lingering elbow injury has gotten the best of him in the last year. He has, however, battled well in several tournaments. Most recently though, Nole splashed out of the action in Barcelona.

If anyone can reestablish themselves in men’s singles tennis, it is Djokovic.

Despite the loss at the Barcelona Open, the Serbian great was back to training and enjoying some family challenges in Belgrade. Hiking with his brothers, Djokovic continues to show signs of his relentlessly positive attitude. He is known to share photos of his training and while enjoying family time on his social media accounts. No injury seems to be able to hold him back. Djokovic, though perhaps not the favorite during the clay court season, can contend in any match.

The favorite for the upcoming 2018 French Open is without a doubt Rafael Nadal. The Spanish great dominates the clay court season, earning himself the nickname of King of Clay. He wins both the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open to kick off his own return to the ATP World Tour. Nadal, like Djokovic, has dealt with ongoing injuries in the past year but remains atop the rankings in men’s singles tennis. Djokovic sits in the world No. 12 ranking in men’s singles but could crack back into the ATP Top 10 with a few good runs of play. He is a former French Open champion, winning the title in 2016. It is the only title he has won at Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic could benefit from taking more of the Roger Federer approach to the tour.

Federer has stepped away from the middle months of the year for the second consecutive tour. Last year, it allowed for the Swiss great to dominate the final months of 2017 and carry that momentum right into action at Melbourne Park earlier this year. If Nole’s injury troubles continue, he could do well to strategically plan his tour schedule moving forward.
