Lyon Open: Dominic Thiem enters as top seed and favorite

Dominic Thiem enters the 2018 Lyon Open as the top seed and favorite in men’s singles. He looks to gather some momentum for the French Open.

Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem is in action at the 2018 Lyon Open before heading into play at Roland Garros. Throw rest out the window before the upcoming Grand Slam event. Thiem is looking to hone his energy and focus on the court with more play this week in Lyon.

He enters the ATP World Tour 250 Series tournament as the top seed and favorite this week. Thiem squares off against Roberto Carballés Baena of Spain first.

The Lyon Open was added to the circuit in 2017 and its first champion was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This year, Thiem must be considered the player to beat in Lyon. Despite a disappointing Italian Open appearance, the tennis star fared well at the Madrid Open. He went all the way to finals where he fell to champion Alexander Zverev. Thiem is the current world No. 8 in men’s singles tennis and ought to be considered a top contender at Roland Garros this year.

Action at the Lyon Open is coinciding right with the 2018 French Open. Dominic Thiem is continuing his non-stop schedule on the year.

Thiem is currently dating a top player in women’s singles tennis. He and Kristina Mladenovic have been dating for a while now and appear happier than ever. The two tennis stars are both performing well on the 2018 ATP World Tour and WTA Tour. Mladenovic is the current world No. 8 in women’s singles tennis. At the French Open, top women’s players Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki are the heavy favorites. Others such as Mladenovic, however, can play spoiler at any given momentum in the upcoming Grand Slam.
