Daria Kasatkina pulls off the unexpected upset over Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki at the 2018 French Open. Wozniacki was cruising before she met the young Russian tennis star at Roland Garros this month. Coming in as the second seed in women’s singles, Wozniacki was behind just Romanian tennis star Simona Halep.
Kasatkina wins a two-set thriller to knock out Wozniacki this week at Roland Garros.

Winning 7-6 (5) 6-3, Kasatkina stuns the world No. 2 and current Australian Open champion. Wozniacki was searching for her first career Grand Slam win at the French Open. She is coming off of a WTA Finals win at the end of 2017 and then a title-win at Melbourne Park to kick off the year.
Even with the upset at the hands of the young Russian tennis star, Wozniacki can take plenty of positives away from her time in Paris this month. She was yet to drop a single set until her round of 16 meeting with the 21-year-old Russian tennis star.
Daria Kasatkina reaches the quarterfinals at the 2018 French Open. Despite falling to American tennis star Sloane Stephens in the quarters, it is her best run at the major tournament.
Kasatkina is just 21-years-old and is without a doubt someone to watch moving forward. Everyone on the 2018 WTA Tour must lookout for her. The young Russian is one of several amongst a new generation of women’s singles players. She will continue to make headlines and complete deep tournament runs throughout the rest of the year. As she defeats Wozniacki, she once again proves herself on the tour.
