While Thiem has been red hot throughout the past year on the ATP World Tour, so has Zverev. Both players entered the 2018 French Open as outside contenders for the title. The favorite, however, had to remain Nadal. After completing La Decima in 2017, Rafa came into play this year with a chance at an 11th title. He remains alive, currently playing in the quarterfinals at the French Open on Wednesday. He must keep an eye on Thiem moving forward.

Dominic Thiem knocks out Alexander Zverev in their quarterfinals meeting. He defeats the German tennis star in straight sets, winning 6-4 6-2 6-1. He awaits his semifinals opponent at Roland Garros.

Next: Nadal's 2018 French Open

Look for Dominic Thiem to be an interesting player to watch as we near the finals at Roland Garros. Some veterans such as Nadal or Juan Martin del Potro remain alive, but the young Austrian is cruising right now. This year marks three consecutive semifinals appearances for Thiem. It could very well be his year at the French Open.
