French Open: Women’s Singles Shaping Up For Fantastic Finals

The 2018 French Open is nearing the finals this week. Action on the women’s singles side of the field is shaping up for a thrilling conclusion.

French Open action is inching closer to the finals at Roland Garros this month. The women’s singles side of the Grand Slam is proving to be some of the best tennis to watch right now. With several veteran greats and young stars making headlines throughout the event, there is no doubt that the finals with be a fantastic conclusion.

Still alive is top seed and Romanian tennis great Simona Halep. She is searching for her first career Grand Slam win. After finishing runner-up last year at Roland Garros for the second time in her career, Halep appears to be seeking redemption this year.

Halep squares off against German tennis star Angelique Kerber next in the quarterfinals. Kerber is the tournament’s 12th seed. She is also an Australian Open and US Open champion in women’s singles tennis. The last year has seen Kerber regain ground in the women’s singles rankings on the WTA Tour. She is surging right now and Halep finds herself up against one of the best players on tour. The two meet on Wednesday at the French Open.

Maria Sharapova takes on Garbine Muguruza next at Roland Garros. The Russian tennis legend faces off against one of the best young stars in the sport.

Also alive are two of the United States’ best young talents. Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens take on one another yet again. They square off in the semifinals for a match that can go either way. Stephens and Keys are having career runs right now at the 2018 French Open and can play spoiler moving forward. Last year, Stephens defeated Keys in the finals to win the 2017 US Open. Another Grand Slam singles title is in sights.
