Roger Federer: can Rafael Nadal catch him in Grand Slams?

Roger Federer leads men’s singles tennis with 20 career Grand Slams. He added his 20th this year at the Australian Open.
With Rafael Nadal’s latest win at the 2018 French Open, the question must be asked: can the King of Clay catch Roger Federer?
The title at Roland Garros is Nadal’s 11th at the Grand Slam event and his 17th overall. He is inching closer and closer to Federer. The Swiss superstar, however, remains in action on the ATP World Tour and does not appear to be slowing up anytime soon. His strategic scheduling over the last few years have generated even more major tournament wins. As he returns for this coming grass court season, all eyes will be on Nadal and Federer.

Nadal remains the world number one in men’s singles tennis for now. Federer is set to return in the coming weeks for action leading up to Wimbledon. The Swiss great is an eight-time champion at the Grand Slam. Nadal has just two Wimbledon titles. Those came in 2008 and 2010.
Federer’s collection of eight titles have spanned a fifteen year period. Even at his age, he continues to dominate the grass courts. His most recent Wimbledon win came last year when he defeated Marin Cilic in the finals. Federer has found a sweet spot in his game, even at the age of 36.
Roger Federer has 20 Grand Slam singles title wins. Rafael Nadal is catching up, but can he even the score so long as Federer remains in action?
There is zero doubt that Nadal will be one of the, if not the player to beat on the ATP World Tour at different times of the year for several more years to come. A healthy Nadal ought to take his nickname as the King of Clay into several more tournaments at Roland Garros. When it comes to matching Roger Federer in total slams though, he may need to find the surprise win at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, or the US Open from time to time.
