Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is back on the 2018 ATP World Tour. He defeats German Maximilian Marterer 6-4 4-6 6-3 to kick off his run at the Stuttgart Open. While it was a bit of a battle for the win, Kyrgios appears in good spirits this week. He is returning from a two month absence due to injury. After the match, the tennis star noted that his elbow did not bother him. He may not have been at his best, but it is a solid opening match for the young Australian.
Kyrgios advances in Stuttgart, facing Feliciano Lopez next at the ATP event.

With Wimbledon right around the corner, Kyrgios, like all others in the sport, is eyeing action at Wimbledon 2018. Roger Federer is also making his return after skipping the clay court season. While Federer was away, Rafael Nadal dominated the past few months on the ATP World Tour. Culminating the last several weeks with a French Open men’s singles title, Nadal wins his 11th at Roland Garros. Now, the battle for the world number one ranking is very much back on though.
Nick Kyrgios is the current world number 24 on the ATP World Tour. He has flirted with an ATP top 10 ranking before, reaching as high as No. 13, and has the potential to jump in the rankings quickly. The young Australian tennis star is a 20 to 1 favorite for Wimbledon right now.
Action at the Stuttgart Open continues this week. Nick Kyrgios is back to his old self on the 2018 ATP World Tour and should be someone to watch moving forward. Stay tuned to see how he fares throughout his return to the tour and as he and others head into play at Wimbledon.
