Roger Federer Appears Ready For Another Wimbledon Run

Roger Federer is the defending champion in men’s singles at Wimbledon. He is off to the start he needs this year.
Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player to ever grace the courts in men’s singles. He is eyeing yet another Grand Slam title-run at the Wimbledon Championships this year. So far, Federer appears as though he is ready to make history yet again. His opening round match saw him up against Dušan Lajović. The Serbian tennis player was no match for the Swiss superstar. Federer takes his 2018 Wimbledon opener in straight sets, going 6-1 6-3 6-4.
Leading on all fronts, Federer dominated in terms of first serve, second serve, aces, consecutive games won, and so on. The win is exactly what the defending champion needs in order to generate momentum for yet another historic run.

Federer is an eight-time champion in men’s singles at Wimbledon. He and Rafael Nadal continue to remain atop the ATP World Tour despite their ages. Even at 36-years-old, Federer has to be considered the favorite this year at the Wimbledon Championships. He already has one Grand Slam title on the year, having won at the Australian Open at Melbourne Park to kick off 2018.
Nadal then followed up with a title at Roland Garros. The two have gone back and forth for the world number one ranking and neither appears to be letting up anytime soon.

Other veteran greats are off to strong starts at Wimbledon as well. Among the early winners are Gael Monfils, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Kevin Anderson, and John Isner. The opening round matches continue but Roger Federer looks ahead to his round of 64 meeting with Lukáš Lacko. The 30-year-old Slovak tennis player has reached the third round twice at Wimbledon. Federer is the favorite moving forward though. He looks to make history yet again. The 2018 ATP World Tour has been all Federer-Nadal so far. Battling for the world number one ranking, Federer ought to have the edge this month on the grass courts at the Wimbledon Champions.
