Wimbledon semifinals action on the men’s singles side is one for the ages. Here’s a look at how the final four has unfolded this year.

Wimbledon semifinals action is unfolding at Wimbledon this week. On the men’s singles side, fans witnessed both a somewhat unexpected pairing of veterans and a matchup between two of the biggest legends in the sport. American John Isner never fails to disappoint when it comes to epic sagas of a match at Wimbledon. He found himself head-to-head against South African Kevin Anderson in the semis.

Isner and Anderson went back and forth early on in the match, with things slightly trending Isner’s direction after the third set. He jumped out to an extremely hard-fought 2-1 set lead. It would be Anderson taking the fourth though.

Then, as is typical when it comes to matches for Isner at Wimbledon, neither he nor his opponent would relent in the fifth. Taking upwards of six and a half hours, Anderson would become the victor, winning the fifth 26-24. The South African enters his first ever final at the Wimbledon Championships. Isner’s Wimbledon semifinals appearance was his best at the tournament.

Prior to facing the veteran American, Anderson had defeated the heavy favorite and defending champion Roger Federer. Anderson is red hot right now and cannot be discounted for even a second when it comes to the final on Sunday.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have taken a page out of Kevin Anderson and John Isner’s book during their own Wimbledon semifinals match.

As of writing, Nadal and Djokovic are entering the five hour mark in their own Wimbledon semifinals matchup. Reaching the curfew on Friday, the two tennis legends have rediscovered themselves on the grass courts of London and neither is ready to go home. Taking the semifinals meeting to the fifth set themselves, both Nole and Rafa have had opportunities to close it out. Nadal is fresh off of a French Open title and Djokovic is once again finding his footing on the ATP World Tour after battling ongoing injuries throughout much of the past year and a half.
