ATP Rankings Update Following 2018 Wimbledon Action

ATP Rankings: here’s a look at the men’s singles rankings on the 2018 ATP World Tour after action at the Wimbledon Championships.

ATP rankings are seeing a slight shakeup in the top ten after action at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Rafael Nadal remains atop the rankings in the world number one position. Right behind him is Swiss superstar Roger Federer. In fact, the top four rankings remain unchanged this week following the Grand Slam.

The biggest top ten jump has to be Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic. The Serbian great defeats Kevin Anderson in the finals to win his fourth career title in London.

Djokovic jumps 11 places in the ATP rankings to crack the top ten yet again. A former world number one, Nole is now in the number ten singles position. Dropping to number nine, slightly ahead of Djokovic for the time being, is young Austrian Dominic Thiem. Retiring due to injury in his Wimbledon opener, Thiem splashed out of the tournament after a fantastic French Open run earlier this summer. Djokovic is creeping up and ought to jump past several of the players ahead of him if he can carry this Wimbledon momentum into the coming months.

Kevin Anderson moves three places in the ATP rankings, reaching the world number five position in men’s singles tennis.

Another significant move comes for American veteran John Isner. The American went toe to toe with Anderson in the semifinals. Isner moves up two places as he is now the world number eight in the ATP rankings. Moving forward, Federer and Nadal are the players to beat. Others, such as Djokovic though, must be players to keep an eye on. As Djokovic wins Wimbledon yet again, the sport remains in the hands of three of the infamous Big Four.
