Rafael Nadal is your defending champion in men’s singles at the US Open. Winning the Grand Slam in 2017, he capped off a stellar year, complete with two major tournament wins. Taking home his 10th title at Roland Garros last year, he would go on to defeats Kevin Anderson in the US Open men’s final. Now, Nadal is fresh off of his 11th singles title at Roland Garros with the chance to repeat his accomplishments from last year. Can he win the US Open yet again?
A favorite right now for the US Open is difficult to pin down. There is no doubt, however, that Nadal is in the mix for the men’s singles title.

Action at the 2018 US Open is right around the corner. The first three Grand Slam men’s singles titles on the year have gone to three of the Big Four. With Andy Murray remaining out of action due to injury and his ongoing recovery, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Nadal have reemerged as three of the sport’s best. While young up and comers are making names for themselves, the three veteran greats continue to dominate the major tournaments. Federer wins yet another title at the Australian Open before Rafa won his 11th at Roland Garros. Then, somewhat unassumingly, Djokovic shocked the field and took home the title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Nole’s win could be considered his greatest yet due to the time he has missed and the tough time he has had making his return to the ATP World Tour.

The fight for the world number one rankings rages on. So too does the battle for the US Open title. Anderson is sure to be a top contender, along with several rising stars such as Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, and David Goffin. Do not discount Rafael Nadal and the other veteran legend though. The defending champion will be vying for his fourth career win at the US Open.
