Gasquet, Fognini Ready for Swedish Open Showdown

Gasquet Fognini is the headliner finals meeting at the 2018 Swedish Open. Richard Gasquet has the edge over Fabio Fognini.

Gasquet Fognini: the 2018 Swedish Open sees two stellar veteran tennis players taking on one another tomorrow in the finals. Richard Gasquet is the fourth seed and Fabio Fognini is the third seed this week in Bastad, Sweden.

Despite being seeded slightly higher, Fognini is the underdog. Looking at their career head to head matchup, Gasquet has a small edge. He is 2-1 throughout his career against the Italian veteran. The two have not, however, squared off since 2013 on the ATP World Tour.

Action at the 2018 Swedish Open is coming down to the wire. Two of the sport’s great names face off in the finals tomorrow. Both Gasquet and Fognini have seen some impressive moments on the 2018 ATP World Tour. Accomplished in their own rights, each player is eyeing a rise in the singles rankings come Monday. With the US Open right around the corner too, both players are looking for momentum moving forward. While Gasquet and Fognini can take away positives no matter the result tomorrow, a finals win would do wonders for the coming weeks. Gasquet has an ATP singles title on the year, winning the Libema Open. Fognini does too though. He has a title win from action in Sao Paolo.

With the fourth and final Grand Slam of the 2018 ATP World Tour in the US Open right around the corner, both players are looking for a title win. Strong years on tour are underway for Gasquet and Fognini. While the French tennis veteran may have a slight edge over his Italian counterpart, the championship may fall to whoever strikes early in their match.
