Fognini’s win is significant in men’s singles. He and Gasquet clashed in Bastad in the wake of Novak Djokovic’s title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Tennis players over 30-years-old are continuing to dominate the ATP World Tour. The young generation came on strong at the end of last year, culminating with a Grigor Dimitrov ATP Finals win. The up and comers have not, however, fared as well in recent months. Despite some success throughout the year, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have all taken over at the Grand Slams. Fognini now has two ATP singles titles on the year and his success goes to show you just how far experience can get you at this level of tennis.
Fabio Fognini evens his career head-to-head with Richard Gasquet at 2-2 in men’s singles matches. The Italian tennis star has become someone to watch down the stretch in 2018.
