Roger Federer ‘Regrettably’ Withdraws From Rogers Cup

Roger Federer has withdrawn from the upcoming Rogers Cup due to concern over his schedule moving forward. He is a two-time winner at the event.
Roger Federer announces his withdrawal from this year’s Rogers Cup. The Swiss superstar is a former two-time champion at the event. The other remaining ATP Top 10 singles players are expected to be in action at the Masters 1000 tournament.
At the 2018 Wimbledon Championships this year, Federer saw himself ousted during the quarterfinals by South African tennis veteran Kevin Anderson. His opponent would become the eventual runner-up, losing to Serbian great Novak Djokovic in the finals.

Looking at Federer’s decision to withdraw from the Rogers Cup, it doesn’t seem to be too much to worry about. As he will turn 37-years-old in the coming days, Federer is extremely conscious of his scheduling on the ATP World Tour. The tennis superstar has strategically planned his tours in recent years and it is paying off. Last year, he won titles at both the Australian Open and at Wimbledon. This year, Federer kicked off his year defending his win at Melbourne Park. The world number two has three ATP singles titles, including the Grand Slam win, and remains one of the top contenders in the sport. Age is just a number for Federer, but it is one that he is highly cognizant of. His withdrawal from the Rogers Cup ought to set him up for a strong 2018 finish.
