Dominic Thiem Showing Positive Signs In ATP Return

Dominic Thiem wins his opener at the German Open Tennis Championships. Is the young Austrian back to his old form after Wimbledon?
Dominic Thiem remains in the ATP Top 10 this week. Entering the German Open Tennis Championships as the tournament’s top seed, he has plenty to live up to. The young Austrian is still bouncing back from his retiring due to injury at the Wimbledon Championships earlier this month. He wins his opener in Hamburg, however, in straight sets.
Winning 6-4 6-2, Thiem defeats French qualifier Corentin Moutet.

Moving into the round of 16 next, Thiem is up against John Millman. The Australian tennis veteran should give the young Austrian tennis star more of a challenge. It will be an interesting match to watch for fans and players alike. Thiem, who is rebounding from a minor injury that caused his retirement from his Wimbledon opener, must prove that he is back to full strength. Currently, Thiem is the world number eight in men’s singles tennis.
Despite his early round exit at the recent Grand Slam, he rose one position in the singles rankings this past week. With two ATP singles titles already on the year, he remains a top contender in the younger generation of men’s tennis stars right now on the ATP World Tour.
Dominic Thiem must prove that he is ready to take on the best of the ATP World Tour. After suffering an unexpected injury at Wimbledon, he is back in action at the German Open Tennis Championships this week.
