Andy Murray Meets Soccer Star Wayne Rooney in Washington

Andy Murray is in Washington, DC for the Washington Open this week. He took time to hang out with Wayne Rooney on the courts.
Andy Murray is making his return to the ATP World Tour most recently at the 2018 Washington Open. After ultimately backing out of action at the Wimbledon Championships, the former world number one is back in action this coming week.
Facing off against young American tennis player Mackenzie McDonald on Monday, Murray looks to gather some much needed momentum.

Before play at the Washington Open begins for the tennis star though, he meets with Wayne Rooney on the practice courts. The soccer legend has recently signed a deal with the Major League Soccer team DC United. Rooney and Murray are among the greatest players in each of their respective sports.
Here, Murray shares a photo with the soccer star via his social media. Rooney is fittingly wearing a DC United hat to represent his new team in town.

While Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have dominated the 2018 ATP World Tour, Andy Murray looks to rejoin their ranks in the coming months. It has been a struggle for the former world number one to make his return to competitive men’s singles play. He is a two-time Wimbledon champion and has a title at the US Open. Winning the major tournament at Flushing Meadows in 2012, he is hopeful that he will be fit enough to make a competitive run there this year.
