Andy Murray is in action this week at the Washington Open. The former world number one is seeing some much needed success on the courts.

Andy Murray is the only one of the Big Four lagging behind on the 2018 ATP World Tour. The former world number one has largely been absent from the action in men’s singles tennis for the better part of a year due to injury. While others such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, and Kei Nishikori have made earlier returns from injury, Murray’s comeback has taken more time than expected.

At the last minute, Murray withdrew from the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Prior to the Grand Slam, he was at the Eastbourne International where he took down Wawrinka in his opener before falling to Kyle Edmund in the round of 16. Edmund took their meeting in straight sets.

Now, Murray is in Washington, DC for the Washington Citi Open and he is making headlines. The British tennis star takes down current British number one Edmund in his second match at the ATP World Tour event. After an opening match three set victory, Murray make it dramatic once again, fighting back to take the third set off of Edmund. He wins their round of 32 match, going 7-6 (4) 1-6 6-4. Edmund was the tournament’s fourth seed.

Andy Murray is the only one of the Big Four to not have a Grand Slam title in 2018. Roger Federer is the Australian Open champion, Rafael Nadal is the French Open champion, and Novak Djokovic is a recent winner at Wimbledon.
