8 – Nick Kyrgios

Perhaps a surprise, coming in at number eight is everyone’s favourite maverick, Nick Kyrgios. The reason why he is this far down the list is because there is no way of knowing which Kyrgios is going to turn up. He has the potential to win the US Open this year if he tries his best, however the likelihood is that he will go out early as usual.

It’s amazing to think that the furthest he has ever gone in a Grand Slam is the quarter-final at Wimbledon four years ago and Australian Open three years ago. He had a competitive match with Del Potro in Cincinnati, narrowly losing out in three sets, so his form is decent. However, he is seeded 30th, so could have tough early matches.
