Caroline Wozniacki sees shocking exit from Pan Pacific Open

Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki is ousted early on at the 2018 Pan Pacific Open. She sees a shocking exit from the action.

Caroline Wozniacki is gone from the action at this year’s Pan Pacific Open. Last year, the Danish tennis star won her third title in women’s singles at the event. It also completed a back to back run, defending her previous 2016 title. This year, however, Wozniacki is not so lucky.

Coming off of a lackluster performance at the 2018 US Open, Wozniacki was looking for a bounce back tournament at the Pan Pacific. She’ll have to wait to regain her momentum though.

Wozniacki falls to Camila Giorgi in three sets. The unseeded Italian tennis player takes their meeting, winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 as she advances to the quarterfinals. She is someone to watch moving forward in Tokyo.

Coming is as the three-time and defending champion in women’s singles, Wozniacki was the tournament’s top seed. She must shake this one off and regain her composure moving forward.

Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep largely dominated the first half of the 2018 WTA Tour. Wozniacki earned a grand slam title at the Australian Open but remains fighting to achieve the world number one ranking yet again.

While Caroline Wozniacki is gone from the action this week, US Open champion Naomi Osaka remains alive. She reaches the quarterfinals where she is on the courts Friday at the Pan Pacific. Second seed Caroline Garcia also remains alive in women’s singles. As for Wozniacki, the world number two must turn her focus to her next scheduled tournament. She is currently in the fifth position in the WTA Tour’s Race to Singapore. Check back to see how she fares down the stretch.
