British number one Kyle Edmund is one of the rising stars on the ATP World Tour. He made his Laver Cup debut this year in Chicago.

His 2018 ATP World Tour has seen him reach career heights and even come close to a major tournament final. At the Australian Open, Edmund reached the semifinals, falling to eventual runner-up finisher Marin Cilic.

At the 2018 Laver Cup, Edmund earned a spot as a captain’s pick. His stellar play as of late stood out enough for Team Europe to add him into the mix.

The best part of Edmund’s debut at the Laver Cup is that it was a smashing success. He defeats American tennis star Jack Sock on Day 1 at the second edition of the tennis event. Edmund goes 6–4, 5–7, [10–6] against the American, giving Team Europe a 2-0 lead early on during the first day of action. His singles match would be his only event in Chicago. 1-0 is a great record to walk away with though.

While Sock helped Team World hang on with his beyond impressive doubles play, it would not be enough. Team Europe wins the title, going 13-8 with one match to play. The meeting between Djokovic and Australian Nick Kyrgios was not needed after a singles win by Zverev on Day 3. The experience is just what Kyle Edmund needs moving forward. He continues to contend with the best in men’s singles tennis and is without a doubt a player to watch on the ATP World Tour.
