British No. 1 Kyle Edmund is off to a solid start at the 2018 Shanghai Masters. This comes after two impressive outings.

Kyle Edmund defeats Filip Krajinović of Serbia during his opener at the 2018 Shanghai Masters. Edmund is the tournament’s 11th seed in men’s singles this year. He enters the action coming off of a strong performance at the China Open. There, Edmund reached the semifinals where he would fall to eventual champion Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Before his semifinals run at the China Open, the British tennis star also made his debut at the Laver Cup. Playing for Team Europe, Edmund won his only singles match against rising American star Jack Sock. He takes their meeting in three sets.

His early round victory at the Shanghai Masters also comes as several other top players see unexpected upsets. Among those being upset is rising Austrian player Dominic Thiem. Edmund and others can take advantage of these upsets in the coming rounds.

Look for Kyle Edmund to be a slight favorite in his upcoming meeting with Italian veteran Andreas Seppi. The two square off on Wednesday at the 2018 Shanghai Masters.
