Nikoloz Basilashvili Having Career Year On ATP World Tour

Nikoloz Basilashvili is in the middle of what will go down as a career year on the ATP World Tour for the Georgian tennis player.
China Open champion Nikoloz Basilashvili is having a career year on the ATP World Tour. His title this past weekend is just his second in men’s singles. His first, however, also came earlier this year at Hamburg. He has reached career heights on the ATP World Tour thanks to his fantastic play so far in 2018 and he does not appear to be letting up.
The title win at the China Open moves Basilashvili up to the world number 23 ranking in men’s singles tennis. He defeats the tournament’s top seed Juan Martin del Potro in the finals, winning in straight sets 6-4 6-4.

Basilashvili follows up his second title win with by defeating Denis Shapovalov of Canada at the Shanghai Masters. He faces fourth seed and rising German tennis star Alexander Zverev next at the event. Win or loss against Zverev, Basilashvili has proven that he has what it takes to hang with the best on the ATP World Tour.
Nikoloz Basilashvili is now the world number 23 in men’s singles tennis. He defeats Juan Martin del Potro to win the 2018 China Open. So far on the year, the Georgian tennis star has earned his first two career ATP singles titles.
On the women’s singles side at the China Open, top seed and favorite Simona Halep saw an early exit. She retires during her opener due to an ongoing back injury. Second seed and current WTA Finals and Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki takes the title. She is surging yet again on the WTA Tour and is eyeing the year-end WTA Finals in Singapore.
