Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer is gearing up to defend his title in men’s singles tennis. Here’s a look at his chances at the Shanghai Masters.

Roger Federer is the defending champion at the Shanghai Masters. His 2017 title-win came over Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal. The two legends have experienced a resurgence on the ATP World Tour in the past year and Federer is a favorite to defend his title in Shanghai.

Facing Daniil Medvedev first at the event, Federer ought to be considered a heavy favorite. The young Russian is coming off of a win but needs to be at his best against Federer.

Federer is a two-time champion at the Shanghai Masters. He has wins in both 2014 and 2017. He, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray have largely dominated the event throughout recent years. Djokovic is red hot on the 2018 ATP World Tour. He is coming off of grand slam titles at both the Wimbledon Championships and then again at the US Open.

Nole is the second seed this week at the Shanghai Masters and poses the greatest threat to Federer. While they don’t have to worry about one another for quite some time at the event, Federer ought to keep an eye on Djokovic’s progress.
