Canadian Eugenie Bouchard is finally ousted at the 2018 Luxembourg Open. But the question has to be asked; is Genie back to her old self?

While her run comes to an end at the 2018 Luxembourg Open, fans have to wonder if Eugenie Bouchard is finally bouncing back on the WTA Tour. She cruises through qualifying at the event before reaching the semifinals in Luxembourg. Falling to the top seed, Genie has to be pleased with her performance there this week.

Julia Goerges moves on and will face Belinda Bencic next for a shot at the title.

As for Bouchard, she has seen plenty of ups and downs so far on the 2018 WTA Tour. It has been a struggle to get back to her previous former of world number five and she is still a ways away. This could be a huge step in the right direction for the 24-year-old Canadian though.

Genie knocks out both Carla Suarez Navarro and Timea Babos in her time at the Luxembourg Open.

Bouchard entered the main draw as a qualifier, defeating two players to enter the main field of play.

Bouchard’s semifinals run at the Luxembourg Open is exactly what the young Canadian needs right now. She falls to the top seed. Bouchard can, however, take away plenty of positives from her time in Luxembourg this week. With the WTA Tour featuring several rising stars in women’s singles, Genie is competing with countless contenders. The tour is packed with talent as of late.

Throughout much of the last year or two, Eugenie Bouchard has been known more for her postings on social media than her dominance on the tennis courts. She is always sharing what she’s up to in her lavish or entertaining outings with fans. Now though, the young tennis star could be on her way back into the WTA Top 100 and will have more to share with fans. As others such as Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Simona Halep dominate the sport, Genie remains one of the dozens upon dozens of players right on the verge of breaking into that next level in women’s singles tennis.
